Axiom’s End

Somehow I ended up accidentally buying Axiom’s End (Lindsay Ellis) twice. My friend recommended it, and I first picked it up on the nook and then in hardcover.

This book is a lot of fun. It’s a first contact story, where Earth gets caught between two warring factions of an alien species. Of course the government gets involved, and there’s a conspiracy-minded person who likes to publish government documents.

The book takes place in 2007, right on the cusp of the financial crisis, which gives it a strange air of alternate history, even though it’s not objectively that long ago.

This book suffers a little bit from “the end just stops”, but overall it’s an enjoyable ride.
