My wife needed to go to Washington DC for work, and I went with her. Since she was at a conference during the day and I was at a coffee shop having a very busy week at work, we mostly explored the city at night.
Last time I was in Washington DC I was in high school, and we were experiencing the monuments like most tourists. It was hot, crowded, and there were tons of people. This time was very different - in addition to being chilly and rainy, everywhere we went on our walking tour was nearly deserted.
The fog, rain, and overall emptiness gives a very ethereal feel to a lot of these photos.
I also stopped into the Carnegie Library Apple Store in Mount Vernon Square. I didn’t realize it had just opened, and I loved seeing it. Repurposed old buildings that carry forward and respect the history involved are one of my favorite things, and it was surreal seeing standard apple store paraphernalia in the middle of an old library.
I also have a soft spot for Carnegie libraries because my hometown has one. I can get behind billionaires who build libraries.
